Photo Location: Jackson Hole (WY/US)
COUNTRY: US   STATE: Wyoming   (Printer Version)
TITLE: Jackson Hole Ski Area
NOTES: West of downtown Jackson, the Jackson Hole ski area has 70 runs open to snowboarding with a maximum vertical of 4,100 feet spread across 2,500 acres. It offers everything that freeriders crave, including technical cliffs, chutes and tree-filled glades, groomed trails for carving, a half pipe and some of the best snow on the continent. Experts will be challenged by the 10,450-foot Rendezvous Peak that has a myriad of terrain and snow to offer. Dont miss climbing the Headwall to the untracked powder of Caspers Shrine.
This mountain is like nothing you have experienced before. Its terrain presents everything from groomed slopes to dangerous cliffs. And its weather is just as variable. That’s why it is important to use extra caution to prevent getting lost or making a mistake that could result in serious injury or death. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort uses the Recco Rescue System. Backcountry access is allow through designated gates, but make sure to check with the Backcountry Avalanche Hazard Forecast first at (307) 739-2664.
Ask about the Powder Package (5 nights/4 days lodge & ski $266 800-443-8613 1/3 - 2/8).
For apres ski, check out the Mangey Moose at the base or the Village Café Bar. For nightlife (don t expect much), try the Snake River Brewing Company, the Stage Coach in Wilson and then late, the Log Cabin Saloon back in Jackson.
