NOTES: North of Houston and just northeast of Conroe, the Sam Houston National Forest has 67 miles of multi-use trails. The route traverses loamy sand and mud, along with numerous creek crossings.

There are three distinct trail systems marked by red arrows: East Side, West Side and Northwest.

To reach the East Side trailhead from Houston, head north on US45 for 60 miles to Exit #102. Turn left onto FS1375. Continue on FS1375 for 5 miles to the ranger station, or another couple miles beyond to the trailhead (just turn right at the Gulf Coast Trade Center and follow the signs).

Note: Trails are usually closed after rainfall. Call ahead. Trail maps are available at the Raven Ranger Station.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is prohibited on all Forest Service roads.
