| REGION: Robert Louis Stevenson State Park TITLE: Mount St. Helena Trail |
 |
NOTES: Northeast of Calistoga, the Mount St. Helena Trail is 11.6 mile round-trip to Mount St. Helena (4,343) along a fireroad west of the parking area. This packed dirt fire road lined with madrona and pine offers stunning vista after vista down the Napa Valley and vineyards. On a clear day, its been told that one can see into San Fran. If this heart pounding climb isn t enough, on the way back try the side trail up South Peak, or check out the two other fire roads in the Robert Louis Stevenson State Park.
To reach the trailhead from Calistoga, head northeast on SR29 from 7.6 miles to the small Robert Louis Stevenson State Park parking area.
Continue west up SR29 for 300 feet to reach the beginning of the fire road and the trail on the left. Head up the fireroad for 5.8 miles to the summit. If this heart pounding climb isnt enough, on the way back try the side trail up South Peak. Back in the parking area, there is another trail heading east from the parking area, the Table Rock Trail (4.4 mile round-trip). It connects at Table Rock with the Palisades Trail which is another 7.8 miles round trip to Holms Place.
