East of Birmingham and south of Anniston near Munford in the Talladega National Forest, the Kentuck ORV Trail system has 23 miles of trails through rolling hills of oak and hickory forests. This system of four trails are fast with lots of turns, jumps and stream crossings. Some trails have easy sections with gentle grades, while others have steeper graded and tight turns.
Keep an eye out for turkeys and armadillos, and of course ATVs and mountain bikes since this is a two-way route.
To reach the ATV riding trailhead for the Kentuck ORV Trail System from Birmingham, head east on US20 to Exit #185 (Oxford). Proceed south on SR21 toward Talledega for 4.5 miles. Turn left heading east on CR135. After 3.5 miles, turn right heading south on Kentuck Road. After about 1.5 miles, turn right heading west on FS643 to the parking area.
Note: As of October 2013, the white loop is indefinitely closed for timber sale. Make sure to call before heading out to see if it is open.
