Buffalo River State Trail For ATV Riding

Southeast of Minneapolis and south of Eau Claire, the Buffalo River State Trail is a 36 mile trek along an old railgrade through several counties including Trempealeau, Jackson and Eau Claire from the town of Mondovi to Fairchild. The Buffalo River State Trail is a 36 mile multi-use trail that runs between Mondovi and Fairchild. Designated parking lots are located at each end of the trail in Mondovi and Fairchild as well as a small parking area east of Osseo on Hwy 10.
Directions to trailheads for Buffalo River State Trail:
Mondovi Trailhead - western terminus: exit I-10 at Washington St., go south. You will pass two streets, turn left at third street. Trailhead will be on right after you pass Monroe St. GPS: 44.566,-91.661 790
Fairchild Trailhead - eastern terminus: trailhead is located at the intersection of Hwy 12 and Hwy 27, just southwest of town.
This is a multi-use route shared by horseback riders, hikers, mountain bikers, ATV riders and in the winter, snowmobilers. It is managed by the Perrot State Park, which is not near the trail.
Overall, Buffalo River State Trail is the 14th most popular ATV riding trail of all 49 ATV trails in Wisconsin.
