East of Black River Falls in Jackson County, the 67,000 acre Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest has 98 miles of ATV trails through pine and oak forests. Note, all trails are two-way. The Forest lies on the edge of the glaciated central plain east of the rough coulee region or driftless area of Wisconsin.

There are 7 trailheads for ATV riding in Black River State Forest. There are two just east of Black River Falls. One is located on US12 southeast of Black River Falls at Castle Mound. ATV Camping is available at Crawford Hills County Campground.

Overall, Black River State Forest is the 2nd most popular ATV riding trail of all 48 ATV trails in Wisconsin.
