Whitetail / Pipestone For ATV Riding

The 2nd most popular all terrain vehicle trail in Montana.

In the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, the Whitetail / Pipestone area is very popular with local ATV riders. It is in the triangular area bounded by Boulder, Whitehall and Butte.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of I-90 and SR 55 in Whitehall, go west on I-90 for 7 miles to exit 241 (Pipestone.) Parking is on the north.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is only permitted on designated Forest Service roads and a Montana ATV registration sticker is requiredon all ATVs.

Overall, Whitetail / Pipestone is the 2nd most popular ATV riding trail of all 25 ATV trails in Montana. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Whitetail / Pipestone including Camp Creek Trail, Alder Creek Trail, Gold Creek - Sheep Creek Trail, Little Joe Trail, Meadow Creek Trail and David Creek Trail.
