Northeast of Helena in the Big Belt area, the Canyon Ferry Lake area has 160 miles of rolling trails through Ponderosa Pine.

To reach the riding area from Helena take Hwy 287/Hwy 12 south to Townsend. In Townsend, continue on Hwy 12 East to Hwy 284. Go north on 284 to Canyon Ferry.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding on Forest Service roads is limited to ATVs with valid license plates.

Overall, Big Belt Mountains is the 6th most popular ATV riding trail of all 25 ATV trails in Montana.
