West of Eugene and southwest of Florence, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area has the regions most popular ATV riding areas with 900 acres of sand dunes along the Oregon coast. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area consists of 3 riding/staging areas: South Jetty To Siltcoos, Winchester Bay / Umpqua Dunes, and Spinreel (Tenmile Creek) To Horsfall.
The South Jetty To Siltcoos riding area is a very popular area, especially near South Jetty Hill (show-off hill). There are large sand dunes.
To reach the trailhead from Florence from SR126, head south on US101 for 0.5 miles. At the Dunes sign, turn left heading west for 0.6 miles to the South Jetty trailhead parking area.
Note: An Oregon State OHV sticker, a permit, a flag and a muffler (max 93db) are required. During these high-volume times, the number of available permits is limited to 1,200 to prevent overuse. Purchase your permit in advance from the ranger station.
Overall, South Jetty To Siltcoos is the 2nd most popular ATV riding trail of all 44 ATV trails in Oregon.
