East of Kamas, the Murdock Basin ATV Trail System is an extremely popular ATV area.
To reach the ATV riding trailhead for the Murdock Basin ATV Trail System from Kamas, take Hwy 150 East to Murdock Basin Road. Trailhead parking is on the left.
Note: Like most National Forests, the trails and road are closed to ATV riding unless specifically signed open. Do not count on seeing a closure sign but expect to see an open sign. It is your responsibility to know which trails are open to your type of vehicle. Lately, it has been reported that the rangers in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest have been strictly enforcing closures and issuing Federal citations which require a court apperance and $150 fine.
Also, on the trail map, the wide lines are open to all OHV users. The narrow lines show routes open only to ATV and dirt bikes and closed to 4WD/Jeep users.
Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding on Forest Service Roads is limited to designated roads. To obtain the latest map of designated roads, make sure to contact the Forest Service HQ at (801) 466-6411.
Overall, Murdock Basin ATV Trail System is the 3rd most popular ATV riding trail of all 75 ATV trails in Utah. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Murdock Basin ATV Trail System including Mineral Fork ATV Trail, Slader Ridge Trail, Soapstone Basin ATV Riding Area, Deadhorse ATV Trail and Strawberry Ridge / Currant Creek.
