East of Salt Lake City, nearly 36,000 acres of sand dunes, hills, and mud flats located in the Great Salt Lake Desert make a perfect ATV riding play area, and Knolls is less than two hours away from Salt Lake City. Tons of off-road fun is waiting, but stay within the boundaries. Knolls OHV area does border a bombing range.
To reach the ATV riding trailhead for Knolls ATV Area from Salt Lake, head west on US80. Take exit #41 (78 miles west of the intersection of I-15 and I-80), head south from exit on old asphalt road. Turn south onto gravel road after approximately 1.6 miles. First toilet facility is approximately 0.6 miles down the gravel road on the right. The second toilet facility is approximately 1.5 miles further south on the gravel road from the first toilet and is also located on the right side of the road.
Overall, Knolls ATV Area is the 6th most popular ATV riding trail of all 75 ATV trails in Utah.
