Southeast of Hattiesburg and south of New Augusta, the Rattlesnake Bay ATV Trail is a 31 mile loop through a very sandy forest open to ATV riding. The best time to ride is during the fall and winter after a light rain shower. The trail is 4 feet wide. Believe it or not, the entire 31 mile loop tightly snakes through a 3 square mile area.
To reach the ATV riding at Rattlesnake Bay ATV Trail from Hattiesburg, head south on SR49 for 6 miles. Turn east on SR98 for 14 miles. In New Augusta, head south on SR29 for 2 miles and turn on FS312. Follow signs to trailhead parking area.
Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is prohibited on all Forest Service roads.
Overall, Rattlesnake Bay ATV Trail is the 3rd most popular ATV riding trail of all 8 ATV trails in Mississippi.
