Sugar River Trail For ATV Riding

Between Claremont and Newport, the Sugar River Trail is an 8 mile multi-purpose trail open to mountain bikers and ATV riders. The trail is on an old railroad grade and has a packed dirt surface.

Eastern Terminus parking is located next to the Newport Recreation Department. From the center of Newport, head 0.25 miles north on SR10 and turn left onto Belknap Avenue. Parking is located 0.1 miles from this turn.

Western Terminus parking is located east of Claremont on SR11/103.

Note: The State Of New Hampshire requires a NH state registration tag on every ATV. An out-of-state registration tag is not valid in NH. They will issue a fine if you try riding without a NH tag.

Overall, Sugar River Trail is the 13th most popular ATV riding trail of all 19 ATV trails in New Hampshire.
