Near Claremont in Sullivan County, there is a trail system of 60 miles of ATV/OHRV trails through wooded areas and fields. The trails are very scenic, well marked and the advanced trails are well signed. Most trails are for the beginner/intermediate rider which makes it very enjoyable for families. Make sure to check ou the Arrowhead trail, the Mica Mine area, the Pump House Trail and the Vo-Tech Trail.
These are on private land maintained by the Sullivan County ATV Club.
There are several trailhead parking areas for this trail system: First, there is the Burger King parking area in Claremont on Washington Street. Make sure to park near the rear of the parking area. The trail (Route 5) is on the other side of the trees. Second, there is a parking area on Cat Hole Road. From Claremont, follow Washington Street to Winter Street. Then follow East Green Mountain Road to Cat Hole Road, and the parking is available at the Veterans Park outdoor pool (the trail is 100 yards up the road). Third, there is parking at Arrowhead Ski Way (seasonal). Fourth, there is parking at Sugar River Drive in Claremont (this trailhead has been closed due to flood damage).
Note: the trail map is only available from the Sullivan County ATV Club. It is free to club members, and there is a fee of $3 for non-members.
Note: The State Of New Hampshire requires a NH state registration tag on every ATV. An out-of-state registration tag is not valid in NH. They will issue a fine if you try riding without a NH tag.
Overall, Sullivan County / Claremont Trails is the 9th most popular ATV riding trail of all 19 ATV trails in New Hampshire.
