Sandstone Multi-Use Trail For ATV Riding

The 4th most popular all terrain vehicle trail in Louisiana.

Southwest of Natchitoches in the Kisatchie National Forest, the 38 mile Sandstone Multi-Use Trail is open to ATV riding. The trail winds through the piney woods of the Kisatchie Hills with nice views and rolling terrain.

To reach the trailhead from Natchitoches, head west on SR6W for 7 miles. Turn left heading south on SR117 for 20 miles. Turn left on National Longleaf Scenic Byway and look for trailhead signs. The trailheads are located at Lotus Camp, Coral Camp and Coyote Camp.

Note: this is a two-way traffic trail.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding on Forest Service roads is prohibited.

Overall, Sandstone Multi-Use Trail is the 4th most popular ATV riding trail of all 9 ATV trails in Louisiana. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Sandstone Multi-Use Trail including Claiborne Multi-Use Trail System, Vernon Enduro Multi-Use Trail and Livingston - Hickman.
