In the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, the Breshears OHV Trail system has 20 miles of trails open to ATV riding through a mountainous forested region.
Breshears is a small, family system of motorized trails offering approximately 20 miles of easy-moderate difficulty ATV trails in a mountainous forested setting. The trails are commonly used by motorcyclists and mountain bicyclers as well. Approximately 40% are single track trails and 60% are very low-standard roads. The trails go through some outstanding back-country where breathtaking views of the Grande Ronde Valley and Eagle Cap Wilderness can be enjoyed. The high elevation makes Memorial Day to Labor Day the usual riding season.
The trailhead is located about 28 miles from LaGrande. To reach the trailhead from LaGrande, head south on US84 to SR203. Head towards Union on SR203. In Union, head east on SR65 towards Cove. From Cove, continue east on SR65 to Moss Springs Campground. The Mt Fanny Trailhead is located several miles northwest of the campground.
Note: Oregon State Park ATV decal is required. All paved road and double-lane gravel roads are closed to ATV riding.
Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding on Forest Service Roads is limited to gravel or dirt roads and the ATV must have a valid Oregon ATV sticker.
Overall, Breshears OHV Trails is the 35th most popular ATV riding trail of all 44 ATV trails in Oregon. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Breshears OHV Trails including Winom Frazier OHV Complex, Blue Mountain OHV Trail, Cow Mountain - South, Upper Lake OHV Area - South, West End OHV Area and Upper Lake OHV Area - North.
