Garnet Backcountry Byway For ATV Riding

The 11th most popular all terrain vehicle trail in Montana.

Northeast of Missoula, the Garnet Backcountry Byway provides a 12 mile ATV ride through the Garnet Mountain Range. The trail follows existing roads which are closed in the winter. Along the route, enjoy outstanding views from overlooks and visit a preserved ghost town.

To reach the trailhead from SR200, turn south between mile markers 22 and 23, about 30 miles east of Missoula. Parking lots are provided at the trailhead close to Route 200.

Overall, Garnet Backcountry Byway is the 11th most popular ATV riding trail of all 25 ATV trails in Montana.
