Divide Trail For ATV Riding

The 18th most popular all terrain vehicle trail in Idaho.

Near Elk City in the Nez Perce National Forest, the Divide Trail (#505) is a 20 mile route open to ATV riding. The trail runs the divide between the Red River Meadow Creeks and the American River.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of SR 14 and Mother Lode Rd. (Main St.) in Elk City, go south on Mother Lode Rd. for 12.5 miles. The road will change names to Red River Rd. Turn right on NFD 222 (Dixie Rd.) and go .5 miles. Turn left on Montana Rd. and travel 8 miles. Trail is on the left.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is only permitted on designated Forest Service roads. Each road is marked to indicate usage.

Overall, Divide Trail is the 18th most popular ATV riding trail of all 55 ATV trails in Idaho.
