Southeast of Mancelona in Crawford County, the Kalkaska Trail system consists of 90 miles of trails open to ATV riding.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of US 131 and Maple St. in Marcelona, go south on Maple St. (CR 571)for 3.7 miles. Turn left (east) on Starvation Lake Road. Go 4.7 miles and look for parking on the left.

Overall, Kalkaska Trails North is the 27th most popular ATV riding trail of all 54 ATV trails in Michigan. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Kalkaska Trails North including Frederic Loop Trail and Kalkaska Trails South.
