North of Downieville in the Tahoe National Forest, the Red Oak Canyon OHV Trail is a 5 mile one-way route. The trail climbs sharply through switchbacks and forested areas. Continue straight at all Y intersections.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is only permitted on designated Forest Service roads. To obtain the latest map of designated roads, contact the Forest Service HQ at (530) 265-4531.
