East of Vancouver near Chilliwack, the Liumchen East FSR is a nice area for ATV riding.
To reach the trailhead from Chilliwack, follow Chilliwack Lake Road across the Chilliwack River. Turn right on gravel road. Park just past the rough camping area.
Start riding east passing Chilliwack-Tamihi Creek FSR on the left and beyond for a couple of kilometers. Turn left at the next road. Continue up the road to the third fork signed as the Trans Canada Trail. Follow the TCT road for a few kilometers to the Chilliwack Liumchen-East FSR which heads south (well signed). This road is well rutted from rain so be careful not to flip. It eventually leads up to Church Mountain.
This area also provides access to the DND Powerline Road, which is another popular ride.
Note: As of August 2008, the Ministry of Forests Regulations require all ATV drivers to be at least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license to ride on Forest Service Roads. In addition, the ATV must have valid third-party liability insurance, which is typically around $120 per year. The Conservation Officers will issue a $600 ticket if you do not have proof of insurance.
Overall, Liumchen East FSR is the 18th most popular ATV riding trail of all 61 ATV trails in British Columbia. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Liumchen East FSR including Vedder Mountain and Foley Lake.
