Black Canyon Trail For ATV Riding

Southwest of Heber in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the Black Canyon Trail is a 16.8 mile route open to street legal ATVs . This ATV trail passes pictographs and early settlements. The Black Canyon Trail is a motorized trail that runs parallel to a non-motorized route.

To reach the ATV riding trailhead for the Black Canyon Trail from the town of Heber head south on Black Canyon Drive. This is the start of the ATV trail.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is permitted on any Forest Service road that has a vertical number sign. Riding on Forest Service roads with a horizontal number sign requires a registered ATV and a valid drivers license.

Overall, Black Canyon Trail is the 13th most popular ATV riding trail of all 42 ATV trails in Arizona. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Black Canyon Trail including Long Draw Route, Chevelon Crossing Road and Saffell Canyon Trail.
