Daniel Boone Trail System For ATV Riding
The 7th most popular all terrain vehicle trail in Kentucky.

Near Hyden in the Daniel Boone National Forest, the Daniel Boone Trail System has nearly 100 miles of trails in Leslie and Clay Counties open to ATV riding. Permits are required to use the trail system, and they are available from many local businesses or at the Kenneth R. Witt Trailhead building.
All users must have valid permit. Permits will allow rider to also use the Red Bird Crest Trail.
To reach the trailhead, Take I-75 and exit at KY-80 towards London/Somerset (east). Go east on KY-80 and get onto Hal Rogers Pkwy east (formerly Daniel Boone) and continue till you reach the Hyden Spur exit. Get off at the Hyden Spur exit and turn right onto 421. The Kenneth R. Witt Trailhead Building is approx. 5 miles on the left.
Alternate Directions From Lexington:
a.. Take the I-75 SOUTH ramp towards RICHMOND/KNOXVILLE.
b.. Merge onto I-75 S.
c.. I-75 S becomes I-75 S/US-25 S/US-421 S.
d.. Stay straight to go onto I-75 S.
e.. Take the KY-80 exit, exit number 41, towards LONDON/SOMERSET.
f.. Keep LEFT at the fork in the ramp.
g.. Merge.
h.. Turn LEFT onto KY-80 E.
i.. Go STRAIGHT.
j.. Stay straight to go onto HAL ROGERS (formerly Daniel Boone) PKWY E and continue till you reach the Hyden Spur exit.
k.. Get off at the Hyden Spur exit and continue on to the Junction of 421.
l.. Turn Right onto 421 and the Kenneth R. Witt Trailhead Building is approx. 5 miles on the left. This route is near the Big South Fork recreation area.
Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is prohibited on all Forest Service roads.
Overall, Daniel Boone Trail System is the 7th most popular ATV riding trail of all 16 ATV trails in Kentucky.
