East of Vancouver near Mission, the Stave Lake West area has routes open to ATV Riding. This is a BC Hydro Recreation Area. There is a variety of terrain to explore including rocky routes, deep mud and water crossings.
There is a parking area on Dewdney Trunk Road. Start riding on the gravel road heading north. There are many side trails off this main road.
Note: As of August 2008, the Ministry of Forests Regulations require all ATV drivers to be at least 16 years of age and have a valid drivers license to ride on Forest Service Roads. In addition, the ATV must have valid third-party liability insurance, which is typically around $120 per year. The Conservation Officers will issue a $600 ticket if you do not have proof of insurance.
Overall, Stave Lake West is the 8th most popular ATV riding trail of all 61 ATV trails in British Columbia. Several of the better atv trails are nearby Stave Lake West including Davis Lake and Stave Lake East.
