West of Albany near Mount Vision in Ostego County, the Mt Vision Trail is a challenging 10+ mile ATV riding trail maintained by the Tri County ATV Association. The trail system crosses numerous farms whose landowners have given permission to the club. In order to ride ATVs on the Mt Vision Trail, you need to be a member of a club with an agreement with the Tri County ATV Association or a member of TrailPass.
The Mount Vision Trail is rated as intermediate to expert since it has tight, technical wooded sections rolling over mountains, along with the farmland cruising. If you are a hardcore rider, watch for he two optional shale stair step side routes. Once you are on top of the mountain you are privy to some very scenic views and trails that very few riders have ever seen. The steep decent off the mountain, intimidating to even the most experienced riders, traverses a power line straight down the mountain. Be aware that this trail is a two-way trail.
Note: The trail system is open daily from dawn to dusk. To show respect to our landowners and Mount Vision residents living near the trail, all ATVs are required to have stock factory exhaust. (No piped or loud ATVs). This system is only open to TCATV club members, or other clubs who have a trail agreement with TCATV. Also, make sure you have the proper registration and insurance before riding anywhere in New York State.
Overall, Mt Vision Trail is the 13th most popular ATV riding trail of all 26 ATV trails in New York.
