South of Susanville and west of Doyle in the Plumas National Forest, the Dixie Mountain Trail begins at the north end of Frenchman Lake and winds up to the lookout on top of Dixie Mountain.

Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is only permitted on numbered Forest Service roads and the ATV must have a red or green California ATV sticker.
