South of Frazier Park in the Los Padres National Forest, the Mt Pinos East Riding Area is open to ATV riding. It is mostly level, but does have some narrow stretches and blind corners. After the pavement ends, the trail is rutted with rocky sections.
To reach the Goldhill Campground ATV riding trailhead for Mt Pinos from the intersection of I-5 and SR 14 in Santa Clarita, go north on I-5 for 33.5 miles. Take exit 194 and go west on Gold Hill Rd./ 8N01 for 11.5 miles. Turn right into the Goldhill Campground Area.
Note: On the map, the thicker red lines indicate trails that are open to OHV, ATV and dirt bikes, thinner lines are dirtbike only trails.
Note: As of September 2007, ATV riding is only permitted on Forest Service roads with vertical number signs. All ATVs must have a valid California Green ATV sticker. ATV riding is prohibited on Forest Service roads with horizontal number signs.
Overall, Mt Pinos East Riding Area is the 62nd most popular ATV riding trail of all 106 ATV trails in California.
