Linking Crested Butte and Aspen, the road over Pearl Pass is a challenging 40 mile ATV ride. This remote, rugged route combines paved roads, dirt roads and rocky tracks as it winds through meadows, aspens forest and alpine passes.
South of Greymouth, there is quad bike riding adjacent to the Franz Josef Glacier. Located in the rugged Southern Alps of the South Island, the ATV riding is across grasslands, over riverbeds and through rainforests.
West of Castle Rock in the Rampart Range area, the Bar Motorized Trail #673 is a 4 mile route open to ATV riding. This is a very popular and heavily used motorized travel route.
Northeast of Ashton near Island Park in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, the Railroad Right-Of-Way Trail is a 23 mile route open to ATV riding. The trail begins at the Warm Springs Campground and ends at Reas Pass while following an old railroad grade.
Northeast of Nelson, the Happy Valley Adventures area has quad bike riding scenic native forest to ridges offering spectacular coastal views. Happy Valley Adventures is located at 194 Cable Bay Road. Leave Nelson heading in the direction of Blenheim on SH6.
West of Castle Rock in the Rampart Range area, the Flat Rock Motorized Traill #674 is a 4 mile route open to offroad motorcycle and ATV riding. This is a very popular and heavily used motorized travel route.
Southeast of Great Falls in central Montana sits the Little Belt Mountains in the Lewis and Clark National Forest. Here, the Montana Trail Vehicle Rider Association is working with the Forest Service to develop a trail system in the area.
Northeast of Queenstown, the Queenstown Hill has 25km of tracks open to ATV riding. The quad bike riding tracks roll through a high-country sheep station with vistas of the surrounding mountains and lakes.
West of Yuma (AZ) and far east of San Diego, the Glamis Dunes (aka Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area) is an ATV riders paradise (aka Algodones Dunes). These rolling white dunes are sculped by the intense winds constantly blowing through the Imperial Valley. This 40-mile-long Glamis dune system is one of the largest in the United States.
Southwest of Lihue and north of Poipu on Kauai, there are miles of ATV trails to explore in the Koloa area and in the rugged terrain of Kahili Mountain. The ATV riding is spread across the 3,000 acre Kipu Ranch.
In the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, the Camp Creek Trail (#18/308) parallels Camp Creek and is open to ATV riding. Directions to the trailhead: Head west out of McAllister on S. Meadow Creek Rd.
From Loretta to Clam Lake, the Dead Horse Run ATV Trail (aka Great Divide Trail) is a challenging 56 mile ATV route on forest trails. The Dead Horse Run ATV Trail offer a scenic ATV ride along the East Fork of the Chippewa River and has a view of Dead Horse Slough. There are two ATV trailheads for the Dead Horse Run ATV Trail.
West of Rapid City, the Black Hills National Forest has hundreds of miles of primative roads open to ATV riding. Traffic volume is usually low on these roads but increases during fall hunting season.
Northeast of Coeur d'Alene and south of Hayden Lake in the Panhandle National Forest, the Canfield Mountain Trail System was originally designed for motorized trail bikes and mountain bikes. Parts of the trail system are now shared by hikers, bikers, skiers and ATV riders. The Canfield Trail System was designed so that the entire trail network can be accessed without traveling on roads that are open to traffic.
