Near Wallins in Harlan County, the Black Mountain Offroad has 150 miles of ATV riding routes spread over 7,000 acres of abandoned mining lands. There are rugged ATV trails at Black Mountain Park and old access roads to explore.
Northeast of Nashville near Golden Pond in Land Between The Lakes, the 2,500 acres Turkey Bay OHV Park has 100 miles of ATV trails through flat meadows, mud bogs and over rolling hills. For a challenge, try the terrain near Kentucky Lake with 600 feet elevation change and great vistas.
Near McKee in the Daniel Boone National Forest, the Turkey Foot OHV Route is a 9 mile stretch of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. It is a fifty inch wide, single lane trail with two-way traffic. The grades are moderate (under 30%). Most of the route is through wooded terrain.
East of London near Big Creek, the Redbird Crest Trail is a 65-mile loop trail open to ATV riding. The loop begins and ends near the Redbird District Office. The trail generally follows the ridgetops, with some portions being quite steep and rough.
