Northeast of Venice in the eastern Dolimites, the wide sunny valley of Cortina d’Ampezzo is known for great mountain biking. The valley is framed by the eastern mountain range of Cristallo / Faloria and the western range of Tofana / Socrepes. There are several ski lifts open to mountain bikes on both sides of the valley. While the west side is most popular for the Cortina Bike Park, the bike park lift can be taken up to access a trail running north along a contour up to Val Fanes and then looped back toward Cortina. On the east side of the valley, there are two lifts that can be paired to form a spectacular loop encompasing Mandres/Faloria and the entire Val Padeon before picking up the Munich-Venice pathway to return to Cortina d’Ampezzo.
To reach the mountain biking in Cortina d’Ampezzo from Venice, head north on Route A27 and then turn north on Route 5551.
Overall, Cortina d Ampezzo is the 1st most popular mountain bike trail of all 47 mountain biking rides in Italy. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Cortina d Ampezzo including Val di Fanes, Drei Zinnen, Cortina Bike Park, Cortina - Pian de Loa - Cascate di Fanes, Cortina - Ospitale - Cimbanche and Cortina - Pian de Ra Spines - Cadin.
