From Westminster, a sweet section of the Mid-State Trail is open to mountain bikes. This section runs to the summit of Mt. Watatic (1,800') and back (32 mi.), and has been adopted by NOMBA. Diehards could continue north to the New Hampshire border. The trail starts from the Waschusett Inn and runs north following yellow triangle blazes through forest and rock gardens.

To reach the trailhead from Boston, follow US90 west to SR128. Head north on SR128 and veer west on SR2. In Westminster, park at the Waschusett Inn.

Overall, Midstate Trail is the 7th most popular mountain bike trail of all 35 mountain biking rides in Massachusetts.
