East of Albuquerque, the Sandia Peak Ski Area has 24 miles of trails rolling through riparian terrain. To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Albuquerque, head east on UR40 to the Tijeras exit. Proceed north on SR14 through the village of Cedar Crest. Turn left on SR536 for 6.5 miles into ski area.

Overall, Sandia Peak Ski Area is the 16th most popular mountain bike trail of all 53 mountain biking rides in New Mexico. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Sandia Peak Ski Area including Cibola National Forest, Cabezon Trail, Tent Rocks Trail, Four Hills Trail and Baylor Pass National Recreation Trail.
