Moonraker Trails Recreation Area For Mountain Biking

Southwest of Golden in the Purcell Mountains, the Moonraker Trail System (a.k.a. West Bench) has over 40 km of loop trails combining technical climbs with fast, smooth singletrack. There are picturesque lakes and views of the Columbia River Valley. The main north trailhead is at Cedar Lake. To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Golden, follow the signs towards Kicking Horse ski area. On Kicking Horse Road, follow directional signs to Cedar Lake. The southern trailhead is near Nicholson on Canyon Creek Road or also on McBeath Road.
The Cedar Snag Trail and North Star Trail can be combined to form a 7km loop. Near the southern end of that elongated loop, the Moonraker Trail leads to the local favorite Canyon Creek Trail (8km) which snakes along the canyon rim.
Overall, Moonraker Trails Recreation Area is the 29th most popular mountain bike trail of all 46 mountain biking rides in British Columbia.
