Horse Gulch Trail System For Mountain Biking

The 75th most popular mountain bike trail in Colorado.

East of Durango, the 30-odd mile Horse Gulch Road trail system (aka Telegraph Trail System) is a popular local mountain bike ride along ridges through pinon and juniper forests. The mountain bike ride is along an old telegraph route and offers spectacular vistas of the town below and the San Juan mountains.

To reach the trailhead, head east on East 3rd Street to the end. There is limited parking for about a half dozen cars without trailers. Start riding up beyond the gate on Horse Gulch Road (CR237).

Overall, Horse Gulch Trail System is the 75th most popular mountain bike trail of all 176 mountain biking rides in Colorado.
