Near Aberdeenshire in the Durris Forest, the 8 mile white-blazed Durris Cycle Route leads you through the forest and brings you out at Inchloan Entrance, less than 2 km north of your original start point.
The route is on forest road all the way, and has some steep sections at the start, although the second part of the route has more gentle gradients. There are great views to the north near the end of the route, and recent felling and thining has opened out views within the forest.
The yellow waymarked Cairn Spur leads off from this Route.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from the bridge at Crathes, head south on the A957 Slug Road. Follow this road until you reach the top of the hill. The forest entrance is roughly 1 km from the top of the hill on your left.
Overall, Durris Forest is the 42nd most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK.
