Near Aberdeenshire and Monymusk, the Pitfichie forest has two cycle trails. The 9 mile Blue Cycle Trail leads the cyclist around the lower edges of the forest and around Cairn William and Pitfichie Hill. There are some off road sections which tend to be muddy. But it is worth it! You are rewarded with great views of the Vale of Alford, Bennachie and towards Monymusk. The 4 mile Red Cycle Trail This route leads off the blue cycle route. It is more demanding and takes you onto the hill tops of Cairn William and Pitfichie. From these hills youll have excellent views of the surrounding countryside.
To reach mountain biking at the trailhead, follow the B993 out of Monymusk towards Alford. After approximately 2 miles turn right at the sign for Whitehills Cycle Trails. Follow this road for about 0.5 miles to the car park.
Overall, Pitfichie Forest is the 65th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK.
