Near Argyll and Bute in the Knapdale Forest, the 12 mile Ardnoe Cycle Route runs from Druim an Duin and forest roads into the forest of West Knapdale to reach viewpoints looking down on the picturesque Crinan harbour. The trail then takes you to some of the finest views on the western seaboard which encompass Islay, Jura with its famous Paps, the Gulf of Corryvreckan, Scarba, Lunga, Mull, Luing, the Craignish peninsula and many smaller islands and skerries in the Sound of Jura. The trail leaves the forest, following a track on the open hill ground to Carsaig and Tayvallich.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Lochgilphead, follow A816 north for 2½ miles then turn left onto B841 for Cairnbaan and Crinan. At Bellanoch turn left onto the B8025 for Tayvallich. Druim an duin is just over 2 miles along this road. From Oban - Follow the A816 south to 1 mile beyond Kilmartin then turn right onto the B8025 tasking you to Bellanoch. Turn right at Canal bridge at Bellanoch then next left onto road for Tayvallich for just over 2 miles.
Overall, Knapdale Forest is the 70th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK.
