San Felasco Hammock State Park For Mountain Biking

South of Alachua, the San Felasco Hammock State Park has a new network of three trails totaling 13 miles. There are turkey, deer, fox, bald eagle are to be seen by the quiet and vigilant mountain bike rider.
The Cotton Tail Trail, a 1 mile beginners loop, fairly flat. The Cellon Creek Loop a 4.2 mile intermediate loop with some short grades as the trail weaves through the trees. The Tung Nut Loop, a 8 mile loop that takes off from the east side of the Cellon Creek Loop that has numerous hill climbs. Not so much technically challenging as a senic aerobic work out.
To reach the mountain biking trailhead from US75, use Exit 399 (old 78). Head south on US441 for 2.8 miles through Alachua to Progress Corporate Park Blvd. Turn onto Progress Blvd for 0.7 miles and head to the end of the road to park.
Overall, San Felasco Hammock State Park is the 35th most popular mountain bike trail of all 58 mountain biking rides in Florida. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby San Felasco Hammock State Park including Manatee Springs State Park and Oleno State Park.
