South of Kansas City, the 12 mile Blue River Parkway runs along both sides of the Blue River. The hard packed surface trails begin near Red Bridge Road on the north and extend south of Martin City to 139th Street. While about 1.5 miles are on railroad grade, the rest is nice singletrack.

To reach mountain biking at the trailhead, follow US435 to Holmes Road. Head south on Holmes Road to 117th Terrace. Turn left heading southeast on 117th Terrace to where it ends at Troost. Turn right heading south on Troost to where it ends at 118th Street. Turn left heading east on 118th Street crossing a railroad grade and follow this road to the trailhead parking area.

Overall, Blue River Parkway is the 14th most popular mountain bike trail of all 27 mountain biking rides in Missouri.
