Edale Valley For Mountain Biking

Southeast of Manchester and west of Hathersage, the Edale Valley has several popular landmarks that can be combined into one grueling 32 mile mountain bike ride. This valley is known as one of the most scenic in the Peaks.

Starting from Castleton, the route runs west up Winnats Pass and then along the western flank of Mam Tor down a technical bridleway into Edale. Head northwest over Jaggers Clough and cross River Derwent. Loop Ladybower Reservoir in Upper Derwent Valley and return south back across the river towards Hope. Be ready for lots of climbing.

Castleton is locate on the A625 between Sheffield and Manchester.

Overall, Edale Valley is the 10th most popular mountain bike trail of all 93 mountain biking rides in UK. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Edale Valley including Peak National Park, Jacobs Ladder and Pennine Bridleway.
