North of Montgomery near Wetumpka, the 8 mile Swayback Bridge Trail on the southeast side of Lake Jordan is a relatively new rolling singletrack. Best in the spring when the Azaleas are blooming. The trail is well blazed and there is a map at the mountain bike trailhead.
Directions from Montgomery: Take U.S. 231 North (4 lane) out of Montgomery towards Wetumpka. Go through Wetumpka and continue north on 231, pass Julia Tutwiler womens prison on your right. Continue on about another 1.5-2 miles and then turn left at the sign for Swayback Bridge Trail and Jordan Dam. Sorry, dont know the name of this road. Follow it for about 2-3 miles and you will come up on a fork, you can go left or right...the parking lot for the trail is in the fork. You won t see the parking lot at first because there are a few houses before you get to it, but about .1 miles past the fork there will be a short dirt road that connects the two roads that forked apart. The trial head and trail exit are just opposite the parking lot.
Overall, Swayback Bridge Trail is the 7th most popular mountain bike trail of all 10 mountain biking rides in Alabama.
