North of St George, the Broken Mesa Trail is a 7 mile mountain bike trail that climbs an impressive 1,000 feet of vertical. Located within the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, the Broken Mesa Trail is usually combined with the Ice House Trail for an advanced mountain bike ride across rugged terrain. The local mountain bikers typically start at the Broken Mesa Trailhead or the Ice House Trailhead and ride down to Green Springs. Cottonwood Road can be used to connect the trails in a loop.

To reach the trailhead from St George, head east on St George Boulevard. Turn left on 1000 East and then turn right on Red Hills Parkway. Turn left on Industrial Drive, and then turn left on Red Rock Road. On top of the mesa, veer left at the Y-intersection. Park near the water tank by the marked trail kiosk. Start riding up the road for 5.6 miles to the dirt road leading to the trailhead.

Overall, Broken Mesa Trail is the 51st most popular mountain bike trail of all 73 mountain biking rides in Utah.
