Southeast of Crested Butte and northeast of Almont, the Star Trail (#411) is a hardcore adventure with lots of climbing and rocky descents. This one-way mountain bike route is best from north to south when combined with forest roads (the northern end is at 12,000). Mysterious Lake makes a nice mid-point stop for lunch. A great loop combines Flag Creek Trail, Italian Creek Road and Spring Creek Road.

Overall, Star Trail is the 90th most popular mountain bike trail of all 178 mountain biking rides in Colorado. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Star Trail including Deer Creek Trail, 401 Trail, Teocalli Ridge Trail, East Brush Creek / Trail 400, 409 Trail / Walrod Gulch and Timberline TrailDoctors Park.
