Brush Hollow For Mountain Biking

Northwest of Ridgway, the Brush Hollow area has 8 miles of bike trails. There are three loops: Challenger, Brushy Gap and Elli Loop (more difficult).

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from Ridgway, follow SR948 northwest for 10 miles and look for parking on right.

There are 12.4 kilometers (7.6 miles) of trails that are marked with blue diamonds. Brush Hollow offers challenges to a wide range of skill levels. The section of trail located along Big Mill Creek is designated EASIEST and is suitable for beginners. The Brushy Gap and Elli Loops are designated MORE DIFFICULT. Scenic overlooks of the Big Mill Creek Valley are located on the Challenger and Elli Loops. Portions of the trail system are located on abandoned railroad grades that were used for logging at the turn of the century. In the spring, many of the trails are decorated with wildflowers. This area is a good place to view wildlife.

Overall, Brush Hollow is the 41st most popular mountain bike trail of all 75 mountain biking rides in Pennsylvania. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Brush Hollow including Allegheny National Recreation Area, Cherry Grove, Minister Creek Valley West, Bear Creek Loop, Grand Tour and Buzzard Swamp LoopSalmon Creek Loop.
