Near Wendell, the 7,500 acre Wendell State Forest has 15 miles of trails through hardwood and pine forests. Make sure to try the 3 mile Hannah Swarton Trail which rolls along ledges and down switchbacks.

To reach mountain biking at the forest, follow SR2 to Exit 12. Turn south on SR63 through Miller Falls for 0.75 miles. Turn left heading east onto Wendell Road and continue across the railroad bridge. Wendell Road turns into Montague Road. Follow the signs.

Overall, Wendell State Forest is the 23rd most popular mountain bike trail of all 35 mountain biking rides in Massachusetts.
