Gooseberry Springs Trail For Mountain Biking

Northeast of Grants, the Gooseberry Springs Trail is a popular 7 mile out-and-back mountain biking route with 2,100 feet of elevation gain. The route winds around Mount Taylor to a maximum elevation of 11,300 near the rim of this ancient volcano.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from US66 in Grants, turn north on First Street (NM 547) and drive about 13 miles to the second turn-off for Forest Road 193. Drive 5 miles to FR 501; turn left and go about 0.5 miles to the Gooseberry Springs Trail (Trail 77).

Overall, Gooseberry Springs Trail is the 24th most popular mountain bike trail of all 53 mountain biking rides in New Mexico.
