Sugar Hill State Forest For Mountain Biking

West of Ithaca and Watkins Glen in Schuyler County, the 9,000 acre Sugar Hill State Forest has 40 miles of trails shared by hikers, bikers and horseback mountain bike riders. A portion of the Finger Lakes Trail also passes through the forest.
The best trailhead is on CR23 halfway between Watkins Glen and Tyrone near a rustic sign. If you can find it, theres also parking at the Sugar Hill Fire Tower.
Overall, Sugar Hill State Forest is the 18th most popular mountain bike trail of all 48 mountain biking rides in New York. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Sugar Hill State Forest including Interloken Trail, Hammond Hill State Forest, Shindagin Hollow State Forest and Jenksville State Forest Multiple Use Trail System.
