Northwest of Newark near Ringwood in Bergen County, the 4,200 acre Ramapo Mountain State Forest has 26 miles of trails.

To reach mountain biking at the trailhead, take Route 287 to exit 57, follow Skyline Drive to parking lot on the left. The upper parking area for Ramapo Mountain State Forest on the left side of the road at milepost 1.4, opposite the entrance to Camp Tamarack.

Overall, Ramapo Mountain State Forest is the 14th most popular mountain bike trail of all 24 mountain biking rides in New Jersey.
