Northeast of San Antonio, the Madrone Trail is a 7 mile route with spectacular views of Canyon Lake. Expect to find plenty of rock and ledge riding through shady forest.

To reach the mountain biking trailhead from San Antonio, head northeast on US35 to SR306 (Exit 190c). Head west on SR306 for 17 miles. Turn left into Canyon Lake Park at the Hancock Mini-Mart. Continue past the beach area. The trailhead parking area is the next parking area on the right (look for trail sign).

Overall, Madrone Trail is the 47th most popular mountain bike trail of all 59 mountain biking rides in Texas. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Madrone Trail including Hill Country, Guadalupe River State Park and Kerrville-Schreiner State Park.
