South of Jacksonville and west of Palatka, the Holloway Loop trail is a 5 mile mountain biking route in the 86,79 acre Etoniah Creek State Forest. Overall, there are 19 miles of multi-use trails on the east side of the ECSF shared by horseback riders and mountain bikers.
To reach the trailhead from Palatka, head west on SR100 for 10 miles to Holloway Road. Turn right heading north on Holloway Road for 2 miles to Fieldhouse Road. Turn right on Fieldhouse Road to the trailhead parking area.
The forest is home to a variety of wildlife and is part of a wildlife corridor that offers the black bear a vast roaming area, a necessity for their existence. Other types of wildlife which are commonly found on the forest include: white-tailed deer, bobcat, fox squirrel, wild turkey, eastern diamondback rattlesnake and great horned owl.
Overall, Holloway Loop is the 54th most popular mountain bike trail of all 58 mountain biking rides in Florida. Several of the better mountain bike trails are nearby Holloway Loop including Fort Clinch State Park, Middle Fork Trail, Payette Trail, Stein Butte Trail and Little Talbot Island State Park.
